Yes, We Are Coming Back!

The Chi Phi National Office has had a team on the ground in Ann Arbor recruiting new members so we can reestablish Alpha-Tau. They will remain in Ann Arbor for the remainder of the Winter 2025 academic term. Their recruitment efforts have already been successful -- as of February 20th, we have 18 accepted bids! There will be more bids issued in coming weeks and the recruiting team expects an initial new member class of 25-30 students to be initiated on March 29th.  We expect Chi Phi Brothers to begin living in the Chapter House once again in the Fall of 2026!!!

Of course, our reestablishment comes with a few significant expenditure categories:

1) Fees owed to Chi Phi National for their reestablishment work on campus this semester - expected to be in the $40,000-50,000 range
2) New Roof for the Chapter House - the house is almost 100 years old and the roof needs to be replaced - expected to be in the $90,000-100,000 range
3) Historical debt owed to U of M IFC and Chi Phi National from before the suspension - approximately $20,000

So we are relaunching the 1530 Club Fundraising Campaign with a goal of $150,000 from our major donors!

The good news is that we have already collected nearly $56,000 from 1530 Club historical donations, but we really need dozens more Alpha-Tau Alumni to join the 1530 Club to fund these significant expenditures that have brought our cherished Alpha-Tau chapter back to Ann Arbor!

Accordingly, we are adding two higher donation levels as part of this special return to campus campaign:

Named Room Legacy Member:  Brother donates $25,000 and gets to pick a chapter house room to be permanently named after him!!!

Reestablishment Order Member:  Brother donates $10,000 and gets his name included on a commemorative plaque to be located in the chapter house foyer.

1530 Club Member:  Brother donates $4,590 one-time or $1,530 annually for 3 years and gets his name included on a commemorative plaque.

Donating Brothers at all three levels will become Members in the 1530 Club and will have their donation completely repaid upon any sale of the chapter house in the future.  The repayment of 1530 Club donations will be subordinated to any debt owed on the house, including debt owed to 1530 Washtenaw Partners LLC, but ahead of any interest owed to the members of 1530 Washtenaw Partners LLC.  ATCHA believes that there is more than adequate value in the property to satisfy all debt holders and 1530 Club Members.

All 1530 Club Members that complete their $4,590 or more donation will receive a Michigan swag gift from ATCHA!  Donor gift options to be determined and shared soon...
