Ending the ICE surge is not enough. After 10 weeks of terrifying and deadly raids, families in Minneapolis are now struggling to pay rent and secure basic necessities. Your donation directly supports families in need. Together, we can help our neighbors heal and recover.

Since December, federal agents, primarily ICE and Border Patrol, have been brutalizing our community: dragging people from cars, entering private homes without cause, brandishing weapons in front of children, deploying tear gas near families, and abducting parents at school bus stops. People are afraid to leave their homes – scared to go to work, to the doctor, to the grocery store, or even to take their children to school.
Across the Twin Cities, local families are facing detention, separation, and displacement due to these extreme ICE enforcement actions. Now, many in the community are facing an urgent financial crisis: the rent is due, fridges are empty, and basic household expenses are piling up.
In response, friends and neighbors came together to create Neighbors Helping Neighbors, a community-led support network rooted in mutual aid. We are powered by volunteers and many others who have brought people together in the spirit of care and community. The Family Housing Fund, a nonprofit based in the Twin Cities, has partnered with us as the fiscal sponsor for this relief effort to allow us to get funds quickly and safely to our neighbors in need.
Our goal of raising at least $1,300,000 will allow us to support 1,000 families as we persist through ICE raids and try to recover in the aftermath. There are news reports that some ICE agents may leave Minneapolis in the coming weeks, and we hope that’s true. As we work to make ourselves whole again, right now thousands of families in Minneapolis are behind on rent and urgently need your support. We are currently receiving requests for thousands of dollars of rent relief per hour.

100% of all donations to this community fund, after the cost of processing your donation, go directly to assisting people impacted by recent ICE actions, and the team that makes this work possible on the ground.

Rent relief to keep Twin Cities families in their homes. We’ve already distributed over $236,000 in rent relief to more than 150 families, and we’re receiving more requests than we have resources to cover.

Groceries delivered to people in need and those too afraid to leave home.

Necessary supplies like toilet paper, diapers, and other shelf-stable essentials.
Since December 11, when our organizing work began, more than 2,000 neighbors have volunteered to support and provide safety for their neighbors. We now receive more than 70+ requests for assistance from vulnerable neighbors every day across the Twin Cities metro area. Our community organizations and volunteers are working together to quickly address the most urgent needs and we need your support. We share resources directly — without barriers, bureaucracy, or conditions. We believe that those closest to the harm know what support is needed most.
100% of all donations, after processing your contribution, go directly towards the rental assistance program, groceries, and other necessities for neighbors who cannot safely leave their homes — and towards the administrative work needed to get this support to families. Mutual aid works best when it’s fast, trusted, and coordinated — that’s why a collaboration of local organizations and volunteers is coming together to raise essential funds for the community.
We call our volunteers our carers; they fulfill grocery, ride, and rent requests every single day for at-risk neighbors. We've had a strong initial fundraising response, but rent is expensive and the current needs remain immense, and we know the need will continue. Our work won't stop when ICE agents withdraw from our streets, schools, and other community centers and we are committed to help families recover when the siege ends. That’s why we’re expanding our community support and reaching out to compassionate people like you to provide even more assistance to rebuild our community and address the financial crisis that too many families are facing.

We’ve received 2,000+ volunteer applications, vetted 550+ carer volunteers, and distributed more than $236,000 in direct rent assistance to 150+ families and through other vetted and trusted community organizations.
