Why Your Support Matters

Imagine you adopted a 9 week puppy that you're head over heels in love with.
At your first vet appointment you learn there's a heart murmur.
You are promptly referred to a specialist, and learn it is a life threatening birth defect called pulmonic stenosis, which means the right side of his heart has to work harder, and it grows bigger (as a muscle) because of the extra work.

His condition can be addressed with pills, which will buy him some time, or with surgery costing thousands of dollars not covered by insurance.
You look at your bouncy puppy, not being able to comprehend the diagnosis.
You seek another opinion, same outcome. You reach out to UC Davis to see if they can help for less, but are told they will charge the same as the local specialist.

You watch your puppy grow and play, knowing if you don't do surgery then he will not live past 4-5 years. And every month you delay the surgery the more his heart grows.

What would you do?
