Hear Our Stories
These stories are drawn from the real experiences of people we’ve supported over the last month. To protect the privacy and dignity of those we serve, each story is a composite rather than a direct reflection of any one person.
A Mom finally seeking care after a long fight
A 50-year-old mom recently accepted an offer for nearly two months of residential treatment. Her treatment will end in early January, and she will need support returning home from out-of-state care. This includes a flight, ground transportation, and help establishing an outpatient team to maintain her progress and reconnect with her family.
A college student trying to make their dreams come true
A 22-year-old queer young adult recently entered residential care after waiting months to begin treatment so they could first complete a required student-teaching placement. With the holidays approaching, they flew to a treatment center and have now started their care. Because their insurance coverage is insufficient, they need help covering bloodwork and medications during treatment. Project HEAL will support their flight and gas to return to school in the new year, where they will be a student-teacher.
A family pursuing treatment without insurance
A 17-year-old and her family are currently driving to a residential treatment, taking a significant step toward care despite immense financial strain. Because their immigration status makes them ineligible for insurance, the family must cover every aspect of treatment out of pocket — including bloodwork, medication, therapy, housing costs, and their regular household bills. They'll need help covering expenses so they can focus on their child's recovery, not losing their home.
A husband rebuilding stability after leaving work for treatment
After two months of care through Project HEAL, a dedicated husband is preparing to return home to his wife and family with a renewed effort to manage his ARFID. He was forced to leave his job to get treatment. As he steps back into daily life, he will need grocery support, gas assistance for job interviews and for helping his wife get to work, and pro-bono therapy to sustain the progress he’s made. He hopes to return to what he loves most: helping others build their confidence through clothing and styling.
We remove barriers in real time.
Every day, people in Project HEAL’s programs face practical barriers that stand between them and the care they deserve.
This community-powered fund allows you to contribute small amounts that add up to life-changing support. Every card "pulled" creates one more opportunity to care.
Be the Reason To Keep Going
Every card on the Giving Tree represents a real person facing a real barrier that could interrupt their healing. Your contribution removes that barrier — sometimes within days.
A tank of gas.
A week of groceries.
A co-pay.
A flight home.
These small but essential acts of support keep people connected, nourished, and moving forward. Your gift today becomes immediate relief for someone who can't afford to wait.
