Danny Vogeney Dive Buddy Scholarship
At the request of Danny’s wife, Lorin Dibenedetto, Diveheart has established the Danny Vogeney Dive Buddy Fund.
Donations will provide need-based support for dive buddies who otherwise could not afford to join Diveheart trips—continuing the legacy Danny cared so deeply about.
A note from Lorin: I lost my partner and lifelong buddy, Daniel Vogeney, on December 6th. Danny was a kind, giving, and loving man who found comfort and peace in scuba diving. Being a Diveheart buddy brought him joy and fulfillment. He often said that Diveheart offered people with disabilities a freedom they rarely experienced in everyday life. Danny and I frequently talked about the one challenge buddies face: the cost.
Dive buddies volunteer their time, yet still pay for their own airfare, hotel, food, and even the diving itself. These expenses can make it difficult for many buddies to volunteer as often as they would like. We would often ask each other, “I wonder how many of these buddies will be able to come back next year?”
This scholarship is created to help.
I am creating this scholarship fund to Honor Danny, who volunteered often and tirelessly at Diveheart and other organizations. The Danny Vogeney Dive Buddy Fund will provide scholarships for dive buddies who need financial assistance to join Diveheart trips—carrying forward Danny’s belief that everyone deserves the chance to experience the healing freedom of the underwater world.
Through this fund, Danny’s spirit of generosity will continue to open doors for others.
