Stories That Shape Us
Every young artist has a story to tell. Help build the stage for the next chapter.
Jamilah was a Mosaic young artist who just became Dr. Jamilah George—defending her dissertation this summer with no revisions, a rare achievement in clinical psychology.
Seven years of graduate school. Two specializations. Over 2,000 clinical hours. Twenty published articles.
When asked what carried her through, Jamilah said, "The confidence and discipline I learned right here at Mosaic."
Every young artist has a story to tell. For some, like Jamilah, that story becomes a Ph.D. For others, it's a role on Broadway, a job at Hulu, or simply the confidence to speak up in class.
At Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit, we don't write these stories for our young artists. We give them the tools, the training, and the community to write their own. Because when young people become the authors of their own stories, they change the world.

"My daughter was a part of this program as a teen, and it grew her confidence and leadership. Now her children participate, and I see it doing that for them and more. They are visiting colleges and doing STEM. They are doing community service. The program really works hard to support youth and families. It has made a big difference to mine.
