A Mother’s Fight for Miracles:
From 1 Child’s Hope to 10 More

After two long years of IVF, Maxwell and Riley Freed, were born on March 27, 2017. In that moment, my world was filled with more joy, love, and purpose than I ever imagined. I counted twenty tiny fingers, twenty tiny toes — and life was perfect.

But at four months old, I sensed something wasn’t right. While Riley reached milestones effortlessly,
Maxwell struggled. He wanted to move, play, and grasp — yet his tiny body wouldn’t cooperate. Family and friends reassured me, but mother’s intuition sounded louder than a freight train. Maxwell was slipping through his mother's arms, and I was helpless. 💔💔💔

Two months later I sat in a cold, sterile hospital room filled with sad doctors and heard every parent's nightmare:

Your son has a rare genetic disorder called SLC6A1Nothing can be done.  Go home and give him the best life possible.

Maxwell’s life was over before it began. His rare condition resembled
Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and epilepsy — but in a child. I would have done anything to take his place.

My world shattered. But mother's determination set in:

I would fight.
Fight for Maxwell’s future.
Fight for every child like him.
Fight like a Mother.

I left my career and began contacting scientists across the world— and I found
hope. Maxwell’s condition could be treated via gene-replacement therapy, a once and done treatment with the potential to restore normal neurological function.  It is the closest thing to a cure that kids will know in their lifetime.

That hope fueled
action. And that action turned into a miracle! ✨✨

Maxwell received his
shot to live.

The drug is manufactured,
sitting in a refrigerator, waiting to save lives. The only thing standing in our way is simply money. The results from this trial will lead to FDA approval, making the therapy accessible to every child.
