Filling Every Plate for an Abundant Montana
Future

Abundant Montana is on a mission:
To fill every plate with local food for
an Abundant Montana future.
Why? Because local food fuels everything.
Economic Growth
For every $1 spent on local food, it generates an additional $0.32 to $0.90 in local economic activity.
Environment
Global food miles account for nearly 20% of total food systems emissions.
Health
According to the CDC, 6 in 10 Americans suffer from at least one chronic illness, 78% of which can be prevented or reversed with lifestyle changes, including diet.
Food Security
Increasing local food consumption diversifies farm income and strengthens food security. Local markets, such as CSAs and food hubs, help communities maintain access to food during times of disruption.
97%
Today, Montana imports 97% of its food. This leaves Montanans vulnerable to supply chain disruptions that can cut off access to whole foods, as we saw during the COVID-19 pandemic.
3%
Only 3% of our food is Montana-grown today. Together, we're building loyalty to local food for the health, security, and wellbeing of Montana’s future generations.
33% by 2033
And we’re on a mission to get 33% Montana-grown food on all Montana plates by 2033.
Track your progress and join the 33x33 for Montana initiative today!
