Make a World of Difference for
Marine Mammals and Sea Turtles.

At a time when donations are urgently needed, the Marine Mammal Stranding Center (MMSC) is asking the community to support its mission this #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving powered by social media and collective generosity.

For nearly five decades, MMSC has been New Jersey’s only organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of sick and injured marine mammals and sea turtles. Since 1978 staff and volunteers have responded to more than 6,400 stranding calls for seals, dolphins, whales, and sea turtles along every stretch of New Jersey’s coastline. So far in 2025, MMSC has responded to over 160 marine mammals and sea turtles.

This important work is possible only through community support, and now MMSC needs the generous support of the public to continue its mission. Donations to the Marine Mammal Stranding Center support critical rescue operations and medical care for marine mammals and sea turtles that have no other lifeline in New Jersey. Rising costs and increased stranding responses mean donations are more important than ever. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps ensure that sick and injured animals continue to receive the care they deserve.

Thank you for your support!

Stranding Vehicle Maintenance

Our two Ford pickups are the workhorses of our fleet, responding to most of the 156 calls for animals in distress received so far this year. With the amount of mileage each truck sees every year, they need regular maintenance and repairs to ensure they are ready for the next animal in need of help.

Pathology and Diagnostic Lab Fees

The laboratory fees to help diagnose sick animals and to examine deceased animals is a large part of our operating budget.
