Seattle Steel Pan Project

Seattle Steel Pan Project was founded as a personal artistic practice, based on the belief that music can build bridges, empower youth, and preserve culture. Rooted in over 40 years of Caribbean musical tradition-building and shaped by more than a decade of local performance, teaching, and organizing, our current iteration has been embedded in the Seattle arts ecosystem for 12 years.
What began as a personal creative outlet has grown into a collaborative effort to build a vibrant steel pan community grounded in cultural expression, education, and connection.
We offer performances, workshops, and educational programs designed to uplift historically underrepresented voices— particularly youth and artists of color. We create programs and spaces that center community, cultural awareness, and education, from youth workshops to public performances and open rehearsals.
We work to amplify the voices of BIPOC artists and culture bearers, making space for them not only as performers, but as leaders and mentors. Whether we’re performing in a park, teaching students the fundamentals of pan, or bringing neighbors together through rhythm, we stay guided by one principle: music builds belonging.
Seattle Steel Pan Project isn’t just a band, it’s a movement to share culture, create opportunity, and make joy a shared, public sound.
