Investing in Saint Paul's East Side

A new opportunity for community and businesses on Saint Paul’s East Side

Plaza del Sol is rising at the corner of Payne and Jenks Avenues, in the heart of the East Side’s Payne Avenue commercial corridor. More than a building, it is designed to be a hub where local entrepreneurs, families, and community members can come together to grow, celebrate, and thrive.

When construction is complete in 2026, Plaza del Sol will serve as a community-driven small business incubator. The main floor will feature a lively market hall and shared commercial kitchen, creating space for food entrepreneurs and local makers to launch and expand their businesses.

Upstairs, a 250-person event center will provide a gathering place for cultural celebrations, community events, and family milestones. Offices for LEDC and East Side partner organizations will anchor the space, ensuring that trusted resources and support remain close at hand. Plaza del Sol is being built to reflect and respond to the vision, culture, and needs of the Latino community and the broader East Side, offering a place where businesses and community life can flourish together.

Community Need

The East Side of Saint Paul is a vibrant, multicultural community, yet too many families face barriers to economic opportunity. Latino households here earn 23% less than white households in the same area, impacting homeownership, safety, and long-term stability.

Plaza del Sol is set to change that by creating a space where local entrepreneurs can thrive, families can gather, and wealth can grow within the community.
