Theo's Inspiring Story - Building A Legacy!
This mission had the best honor of meeting Theo in 2023 at Brickworld in Chicago - he came running up to our booth to give Adam, our founder, a hug after knowing he received a new LEGO® kit from this mission.
We got to know Theo and his family and learned that he battled neuroblastoma for 4 years, a form of childhood cancer. And his love for LEGO® was born through his frequent inpatient stays at Lurie Children's Hospital. He referred to himself as a "Master Builder" and had quite the collection - especially of his favorites: Ninjago, Mario, and Minecraft!
And when he returned to school that year, his classmates held a LEGO® Drive in his honor - collecting over 300 new LEGO® sets to support this mission.
But in June of 2024, his warrior spirit was laid to rest when he ultimately lost his battle to cancer.
Theo was funny, intelligent, and always kind to anyone he encountered. He had a big heart, and taught others around him that the small moments matter.
Even though he is no longer with us, his strength and kind spirit continue to inspire this mission. And that's why we are honored to share that our annual fundraiser in September to honor Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is once again Theo's LEGO® Drive!
We will always be motivated to live and act courageously just like him and ask for your help as we continue to build his legacy through this mission . . . one brick at a time.
This year, Theo would have been turning 9 years old. So, we're raising $9,000 to continue building up his legacy through this mission. 100% of funds donated in September will be used to purchase new LEGO® sets.
