About Save Mountain Gate
Mitra-roshi purchased the Mountain Gate land in 1996, using the inheritance from her father, and commenced over the next nearly 30 years, with the help of donations, friends, and her own labor, to build what is now a, deeply peaceful place where people gather, in frequent sesshin (7-day retreats), do residential practice, and sittings, to practice deep Zen meditation and guided lovingkindness. Suddenly, without warning, a neighbor claimed to have a deed and survey showing he owns half of Mountain Gate’s property, including all the buildings! We engaged a lawyer who established a claim with the court. After two years of avoidance, just before he would have defaulted, through his lawyer suggested we settle rather than go to court. Bargaining reduced the original asking price to $10,500, and of course we’ve also been paying our lawyer, who has been frugal. The settlement payment must be sent within 10 days of signing the agreement. Thus we urgently need to raise $10,500 immediately, plus more to help cover our lawyer’s fees. We hope you can help! Gratefully, Mitra-roshi & Sangha
