many of our disability cases require diaper hygiene for a variety of reasons. Not just for convenience or behavioral modification - in fact, we avoid that reasoning - but due to impaired urinary and bowel control resulting from injury, congenital deformity, and many other varying disabilities.
When going potty is difficult, diapers help to keep both them & the environment clean!
For our power team of 'slugs' (as we call them 🙈), or those who drag their little booties and legs behind them as they prance 🏃♀️💨... diapers play an important role in their protection against the environment that they slide 🐌 across. Diapers prevent injury and proect from bacterial infection from their surroundings. For those who CAN potty on their own and do not require manual assistance, but maybe just aren't too skilled at it 😅, diapers help to keep the environment clean & sanitation protocols met in order to keep everyone safe!
It is crucial that diapers are kept clean and dry at all times & are monitored thoroughly and frequently... so we go through quite a lot!
We primarily use disposable due to the sanitary requirements of the sensitive kitties in our care. We have tried them ALL and have found that Huggies are the ones that work best for this crew!
