Climb Without Fear!
Electrocutions are on the rise, and every year, more wild animals fall victim to unsafe power lines. Our team is working tirelessly to prevent these tragedies, but we can’t keep up without your help. To meet this growing need, we must act now by insulating 20 of the most dangerous points in the area and installing 10 new wildlife bridges. These two actions will directly save lives and protect Costa Rica’s precious biodiversity. Together, we can create a safer, shock-free jungle for all.
We’re working to raise $9,000 for this project to purchase electrical materials to insulate 20 transformers and ropes to build 10 wildlife bridges. Every year, more wildlife are injured or killed by unsafe infrastructure. This is our chance to change that!
Our Work
The Shock Free Zone is a long-term conservation initiative designed to reduce wildlife electrocutions and road fatalities through targeted infrastructure improvements and strategic partnerships.
Our ongoing work includes:
- Developing and regularly updating a map of exposed power lines and transformers from Hone Creek to Manzanillo.
- Selecting priority intervention points in collaboration with ICE
- Purchasing ropes and materials to install wildlife crossings.
- Purchasing insulation materials for transformers and power lines.
- Negotiating with authorities to push for insulation standards and sustainable land planning.
We carry out this mission as part of the broader work of the Jaguar Rescue Center, where we rescue, rehabilitate, and release wild animals affected by human impact, while also driving systemic change to protect their future.
