When Sammy arrived at our shelter, the odds were stacked against him. Found injured and alone, his fur was matted and his back legs were paralyzed—likely the result of being hit by a car.
With no one stepping forward to claim him, we feared his quality of life might be too compromised to move forward. But Sammy had other plans.
Within days, he charmed our staff with his playful spirit and determined “zoomies” on his two front legs. He showed us he wasn’t ready to give up—so we listened.
To give him the best chance, our veterinary team amputated one unusable leg and provided grooming, preventative care, and lots of TLC. After just under four months in our care, Sammy found his second chance and was adopted by a loving family in June of 2025.
