Homies Empowerment
Homies Empowerment provides essential services and resources to underserved communities in East Oakland & the Bay Area, through 11 direct service programs.
We offer free food, clothing, mentorship, legal support, and educational opportunities. From the FREEDom Store, which provides groceries to 2,000 people weekly, to the Care Team offering resource navigation, each program plays a vital role in supporting our community. Contributions from our supporters directly help us stock community fridges, deliver meals to unhoused neighbors, provide mentorship to youth, and create spaces for learning and empowerment. With your help, we can continue fostering self-determination, healing, and leadership in our community.
Mission Statement
At Homies Empowerment, our work for freedom is rooted in Revolutionary Love, Sacred Identities, Putting In Work, and Self-Determination. We are seeking to create a world where our freedom is connected to our neighbor’s freedom.
We define Revolutionary love as an act of freedom where we are always in the process of becoming, learning and improving the self. Revolutionary love lives when we see ourselves in the other, when we speak our truths with care, and when we stand in solidarity with each other. Revolutionary love is understanding our community and taking action with cariño (care) and support knowing that we are all interconnected and we don’t give up on each other, but we do hold ourselves and each other accountable.

Support our independent high school,
The FREEdom School
Led by Homies Empowerment, The FREEdom School is a grass-roots community effort that provides cutting edge education and a tuition free, private school experience for high school students in Oakland. We seek to be a real alternative school of choice for youth who are transitioning from middle to high school, but may be having a hard time in school. We are unapologetically focused on prioritizing kids who have historically received the least amount of privileges in schools.
