"Not long after the bookstore opened for business in 1996, I took advantage of the open mic nights to read some of my poetry. I have fond memories of sitting on a stool with the bookshelves behind me as I read one of my favorite poems. The ambiance set the stage to relax with soft lights and eager poetry lovers waiting to embrace the taste of poetry and all the emotions and imaginations that poetry emits. I often read my favorite poem ‘Driftwood’ because reading at a bookstore allowed me to be me, to express myself without limits and most importantly, it gave the audience a sense of bonding with the reader and hopefully encouraged them to browse and purchase some reading materials as well."
