Thistle Dance conjures wonderfully strange creations and challenges our codified perception of history and lore. Thistle's work blooms at the intersection of theater and concert dance, using movement as our primary language to bridge the gap between audience and artistry.

Thistle Dance creates movement based storytelling for the stage and screen that celebrates the unexamined or overlooked. We use movement as our primary language, to reflect the nuance and complexities in the world around us. The cannon is being re-evaluated for biases, and as we re-examine our facts, we should re-explore our fiction.

Thistle was founded in 2020 by Kristen Brooks Sandler. Since it’s inception, Thistle has created films and live performances in collaboration with The New York Public Library, New York City Artists Corps, Pinkhouse Productions, Prospect Theater, Finback, Capital Fringe Festivals Scranton Shakespeare Festival, Abrons Arts Center and more.

Thistle will use the money to run operations, pay for production costs, and pay its dancers & creative collaborators.
