La Callas

La Callas is a chamber opera in development that celebrates Maria Callas not only as a magnificent artist who changed the world of opera, but also as a strong and powerful woman. Her personal story is told through the lens of her relationship with Aristotle Onassis, the great love of her life. When he left her to marry Jackie Kennedy, he broke Maria’s heart but did not destroy her spirit. She persevered despite great adversity. Maria Callas left a rich and enduring legacy that will continue to be loved and cherished by generations to come. We have finished the first act of La Callas and have recorded its workshop in NYC. The funds raised will be used to finish the opera’s second act and conduct an Act II workshop as the next steps toward advancing the opera’s stage production. Thank you for your encouragement and support.
- Elizabeth Coppinger (Librettist) and Clint Borzoni (Composer)
