Your support will help grow a spirit of stewardship in our community!
By taking a holistic approach to ecosystem health, we will restore the pt̄e oyat̄e (the buffalo nation) while rebuilding the ground beneath their feet. We will develop Plant Sovereignty by interviewing knowledge bearers in our Makhoche (territory) and compiling their wisdom with the cutting edge of more conventional ecological research. Our elders carry many lessons about care for the plants in our area that come from countless generations of living with and relying on those plants.

The core of our Lakota worldview is that we are all related, Mitakuye Oyasin, and this means seeing every animal and every plant as a relative. We recently reorganized our team to dedicate more of our efforts to caring for plant and animal relatives through the interconnected efforts of plant sovereignty and buffalo restoration.
