The Next 40 Years Starts With You
This upcoming year marks the 40th anniversary of our commitment to creating healthier, safer communities. For four decades, we have stood alongside the people of Connecticut, providing essential resources for those who need them most. Your support today will build on the foundation we've laid to address the root causes of inequity so that young people and families across Connecticut can thrive.
Food Feeds the Soul
Our YDT mentees regularly participate in cooking classes by volunteer Chef Raquel of A Pinch of Salt. Cooking not only provides a practical life skill, but it also offers the opportunity to practice soft skills such as communication and teamwork as participants work together to create a meal before sitting down and sharing while eating together. She noticed J's consistent attendance, investment, and quiet interest and invited him to assist her at a catering event.
J accepted the invitation. Decked out in a custom apron, he joined Chef Raquel and her team for Fairfield’s Unqowa School’s annual fundraiser. Everyone noted his enthusiasm and attention to detail, making sliders. This opportunity opens the door to a possible culinary arts career for J.
