Cancer Patient Services Supports Families like Rachel's:
"I am a 29-year-old wife and mother of two amazing little girls, ages 6 and 1. My journey with cancer unfortunately began this past July, during a self-examination, when I found a tumor that would later be diagnosed as Stage 2 invasive ductal carcinoma, aka breast cancer. At the time of discovering this tumor, I was about 9 months postpartum and struggled in the beginning to be heard as I advocated for myself and my health. I was considered a 'rare' population; I was young, just had a baby, and had no family history of breast cancer. However, throughout this journey I have learned that there truly is no rare population with cancer. Cancer can affect anyone, at any time, no matter age, race, genetics, or lifestyle. Cancer Patient Services has provided so much for our family in such a short time. From mileage reimbursement, nutrition drinks, healing arts, resources for our children, to a beautiful wig for me to wear (that looks so natural!), they’ve been a constant support. I am so proud to live in a community so generous and philanthropic, providing access to needed resources during a time of crisis. We truly wouldn’t be navigating this journey without them."
