Make a World of Difference for
Marine Mammals and Sea Turtles.

What if no one cared?
Would marine animals lie on the beach to die a long, painful death, just as they did more than 46 years ago, before the founding of the Marine Mammal Stranding Center? Would people walk away, shaking their heads and saying "Its a shame there is no one to take care of them"? The Marine Mammal Stranding Center relies on donations, foundation grants, fundraisers and three hundred dedicated volunteers. Having a full-time staff, the proper tanks, buildings, vehicles, veterinarian, medication, food for the recovering animals, and all the overhead costs that come with running a rescue for these animals, comes at a price. So far we have had over 207 marine mammals and sea turtles ashore in 2024! Our reserves are completely tapped, and we are asking for your help! Will you reach into your heart this Giving Tuesday? You can make all the difference between life and death for these fragile species. They need your help more than ever. Thank you.

Stranding Vehicle Maintenance

Our two Ford F150's are the workhorses of our fleet, responding to most of the 207 calls for animals in distress received so far this year. With the amount of mileage each truck sees every year, they need regular maintenance and repairs to ensure they are ready for the next animal in need of help.

Pathology and Diagnostic Lab Fees

The laboratory fees to help diagnose sick animals and to examine deceased animals is a large part of our operating budget. This specialized testing provides critical information for disease surveillance and to contribute to the scientific knowledge of these species. The average cost of a full necropsy (animal autopsy) is $500.
