Project Mika
Join us in transforming Apami's former Zoologist’s House into a comfortable, functional space for our dedicated interns!
Apami Wildlife Rescue Center
Apami is Santa Cruz’s only licensed, Costa Rican-owned, women-led wildlife rescue center, dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing wildlife. For animals that cannot return to the wild, we provide a sanctuary to educate the community on conservation and the importance of protecting natural habitats.
Apami's Internship Program offers hands-on experience for final-year students and professionals in fields like veterinary science, wildlife care, zoology, biology, and architecture. Interns gain valuable skills while making a real impact on wildlife conservation.
Why Your Support Matters
Our interns play a critical role in supporting Apami's conservation efforts. Without their help, our mission to rescue and rehabilitate wildlife would not be possible. One of the hardest challenges we face is covering the operational costs of the rescue center, and by having interns, we receive essential support in managing day-to-day tasks, reducing operational burdens.
Help Us Achieve Our Goal
We aim to raise $12,000 to cover the essential repairs and upgrades, including ceiling and roof repairs, new bathroom installation, updated kitchen facilities, electrical rewiring, renovation of the washing area, installation of fans, closets, and storage spaces.
