The Spirit of Goodwill Award is a prestigious accolade that recognizes an individual who has devoted their time, talent, and effort to advocate for and promote Goodwill's mission of "Changing Lives through Education, Training, and Employment." This award is not just a title; it is an honor that celebrates the tireless dedication of someone who has gone above and beyond to ensure that those in need have access to the necessary resources and opportunities that can transform their lives. It highlights the importance of community involvement, and the impact one person can have on the lives of many. This year's Spirit of Goodwill Award winner is none other than Mike Poore. Mike has been a long-time supporter of Goodwill and has played a crucial role in the educational initiatives of the organization. He has been particularly instrumental in helping support the growth of The Excel Center, Goodwill's high school for adults, to gain legislative support as the first and only adult high school in the state of Arkansas. This achievement is a testament to his unwavering commitment to providing educational opportunities for all, regardless of age or background.

Mike Poore currently serves as the Executive Vice President of Education Partners, an organization that aims to build a community of collaborative partners who share a common mission and vision for excellence in education. This role allows him to continue his commitment to educational advancement and community development, ensuring that every individual has the chance to succeed.

Having recently completed an illustrious 38-year career that spans teaching, coaching, and administration, Mike now serves as a leading voice on educational issues. His extensive experience in various educational roles has equipped him with a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities within the education system. He understands the importance of fostering an environment where students can thrive and educators can innovate.

Mike's commitment to education and pathways to opportunities has been instrumental in helping countless individuals find their way to empowerment, especially the people that Goodwill serves. While at Little Rock School District, he built the partnership with GIA to launch Bright Futures, a program that engages everyone in a collective movement to develop relationships and channel resources supporting education. His work has not only transformed lives but has also strengthened the community as a whole. He is truly deserving of this award, and we are honored to shine a light on his efforts. His story is a powerful reminder of the impact one individual can have when they dedicate themselves to a cause greater than themselves, inspiring others to join in the mission of uplifting those in need.
