Built on Grit, Proven by Resilience: A Mission to Support the Special Operations Forces Community

Team Living Proof is taking on the Tour Divide, a 2,700-mile, self-supported mountain bike ride from Banff, Canada, to the U.S. - Mexico border. More than a test of endurance, this journey is a dedication to something bigger than ourselves.

Led by Green Beret Veteran Zack Garner, we ride to support the Special Operations Forces (SOF) community while raising critical funds and awareness for Task Force Dagger Special Operations Foundation (TFDSOF).

After a career-ending injury, Zack experienced firsthand the impact of TFDSOF’s work. Now, we ride to ensure that same support reaches others who need it, when they need it.

MISSION. PURPOSE. FOCUS.

THE WHY:

Zack's Story:
Zack Garner, a former Green Beret with the 7th Special Forces Group, faced a life-changing moment when a traumatic brain injury ended his 10-year Army career and led to epilepsy.

Determined to break free from the cycle of medications prescribed, Zack turned to cycling and fitness as a natural path to healing. In 2015, Zack rode his bike from Washington State to Florida, raising awareness and funds for the SOF community. That journey not only changed Zack’s life but also fueled his passion for helping others.

Now, a decade later, he’s taking on an even bigger challenge, the Tour Divide. TFDSOF played a pivotal role in Zack’s recovery, stepping in when he needed it most. From medical assistance to therapy and long-term recovery support, TFDSOF ensured that he had the resources to rebuild and move forward. Their impact is the reason he is here today, taking on this ride.

Mike's Perspective:
Mike’s relationship with cycling runs deep. It’s been more than a sport, it’s been a source of focus, solace, and a powerful outlet for mental health. When Zack shared his vision of riding the Continental Divide to support TFDSOF, Mike didn’t hesitate to join him. Their friendship, built over decades, is marked by mutual respect and inspiration. Mike has witnessed Zack’s resilience firsthand and is honored to ride alongside him.
