Help Us Support Oakland's Next Generation of Teachers!
The New Teacher Supply Fund is a mini-grant program that provides teachers with up to $500 to set up their classrooms–and their students–for success.
From art supplies to classroom libraries, PE equipment to copy paper, and everything in between, our new teachers need your support to make their classrooms inspiring spaces for learning.
Our teachers are the heart of our community, shaping our children's future and inspiring them to dream big. However, many of them, including new teachers, face significant challenges in providing a nurturing and enriching environment for their students–and it's not for lack of passion!
Recent studies show that 90% of teachers in the U.S. spend money out of their own pockets on school supplies and other items their students need to succeed, and the average amount spent is around $500. For teachers in Oakland experiencing increased housing costs and rising inflation, this adds an additional strain to the start of each new school year.
Introducing the New Teacher Supply Fund, a mini-grant program that will help new Oakland teachers buy the essential materials they need to outfit a vibrant, engaging classroom.

Why It Matters
Equity
Bridge the gap in educational resources and ensure that all students, regardless of where they go to school, have access to a high-quality education.
Teacher Well-Being
We can let teachers know we've got their back by easing the burden of out-of-pocket expenses, allowing them to focus more on teaching and less on financial stress.
Community Pride
It is not just teachers who play a crucial role in the success of our students–it takes a village! As a community, we can play a role in supporting Oakland's future.
