Help Us Raise $100,000 for
Oakland Teachers
In honor of Teacher Appreciation Month this May, the Oakland Public Education Fund is launching the New Teacher Supply Fund - a mini-grant program that will provide teachers with up to $500 to set up their classrooms - and their students - for success next school year.
From art supplies to classroom libraries, PE equipment to copy paper, and everything in between, our new teachers need your support to make their classrooms
inspiring spaces for learning.
A donor has generously agreed to match every gift up to $50,000—
so you’ll make twice the impact when you give!
Support Oakland's Newest Teachers
Our teachers are the heart of our community, shaping our children's future and inspiring them to dream big. However, many of them – including new teachers – face significant challenges in providing a nurturing and enriching environment for their students.
Recent studies show that 90% of teachers in the U.S. spend money out of their own pockets on school supplies and other items their students need to succeed, and the average amount spent is around $500. For teachers in Oakland experiencing increased housing costs and rising inflation, this adds an additional strain to the start of each new school year.
Introducing the New Teacher Supply Fund - a mini-grant program that will help new Oakland teachers buy the supplies they need to set their classrooms – and their students – up for a successful school year! This campaign aims to empower Oakland teachers by providing them with the essential materials they need to outfit a vibrant, engaging classroom.
