Support
Grassroots Ecology
for more volunteer opportunities in 2024
We have many restoration sites and habitats that need our care—about 20 sites across 10 cities, including multiple bayfront sites that are especially critical for building climate resilience and supporting threatened species. We have a knowledgeable and skilled staff team to guide volunteers in restoration. And we have a wonderful community of volunteers eager to make a difference for local lands and wildlife.
There’s just one limiting factor that keeps us from ramping up volunteer impact. You guessed it: funding. Because while volunteers contribute immense amounts of time, effort, and spirit, your service doesn’t pay the salaries of our staff who organize and lead each volunteer event; or the cost of supplying native plants, irrigation, tools, and gear to ensure that each volunteer is fully equipped and empowered to put their hands to work for local lands.
Can you help us expand opportunities for more volunteers to restore nature and restore themselves by making a donation? Your donation will enable us to provide:
- More volunteer events for the public that bring people together across generations, cultures, and local geographies
- More affinity volunteer events that carve out space for people of specific identities or shared characteristics to connect and serve outdoors, from special workdays for ages 65+ to events for Spanish speakers
- More outreach to ensure that our volunteer programs are inclusive, meaningful, and accessible to all, including people with disabilities, students at Title I schools, and other groups with limited access to nature
“A tree I planted at a Grassroots Ecology workday years ago is thriving now. I smile each time I see it, knowing we made a difference in our local ecosystem.”
- John Kehoe, volunteer since 2021
As we gear up for our busiest time of year for volunteering, we must also reckon with rising costs and unpredictable grant funding. Help us keep volunteering in season this spring and beyond by making a donation by May 1.
When you donate to Grassroots Ecology, you are contributing to vibrant, healthy lands and ecosystems across Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. Thank you!
