An FPS Respite offers moments of healing while creating memories that last a lifetime. Becoming a Memory Maker Member is one of the simplest yet most impactful ways to offer respite to families dealing with cancer.
Members pledge a monthly donation to provide transformative time and emotional support to our families every month. 100% of our Memory Maker donations are designated to fund our Respite Program, directly enabling Travel and Staycation Respites each month and ensuring families access to our Respite Reinforced programs.
Some donors opt to contribute monthly through United Way or other donor-directed agencies. Additionally, you can inquire with your employer about the possibility of deducting your donation from your paycheck. Thanks to the generous support of monthly donors, families never face cancer alone. Our comprehensive program meets the cancer patient and their family amid a crisis and supports their journey to improve the continuum of cancer care.
2. Every month, you make Travel Respite possible.
Monthly donations guarantee that families facing cancer can enjoy transformative Travel Respite Experiences. During their respite, we provide adult cancer patients, their caregivers and children with an opportunity to spend time together in an environment away from their home. Respite Experiences are cost-free for FPS families – lodging, food, activities and more are included — so they can focus on making memories.
3. FPS provides Staycations for families that cannot travel.
The FPS Staycation Respite Program equips families with resources for respite, reflection and financial relief when a family is unable to travel due to advanced-stage cancer. This opportunity allows families to connect and create magical moments within the comfort of their own homes.
4. Support Beyond the Respite.
By contributing monthly, you are supporting FPS Families well beyond the Respite Experience. Respite Reinforced provides continual support to families throughout their cancer journey, prioritizing seven health pillars focused on the overall wellness of the patient and their family. These include in-person events for reconnection, monthly educational resources in our FPS Family Newsletter, and access to supplementary resources such as bereavement care through our Carry On Club.
5. You provide kids a break from cancer too!
With your monthly donation, you contribute to the well-being of children at risk of losing a parent to cancer. Nearly 80% of our patients have advanced stage cancer and 42% of our Respite Recipients are children at risk of losing a parent. Your support helps provide these families the gift of precious time together on a Respite Experience, making the world a little brighter in the face of cancer.
Why We Give
Kaitlyn and her family hadn't considered planning a getaway on their own during cancer treatment, but her oncology team knew they needed one. She was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 33, and facing cancer as a mom to three young kids had its own challenges. During their FPS Respite, they discovered the importance of taking a break from the challenges of cancer, particularly for Charlie, who assumed the role of caregiver during Kaitlyn's treatment. Moved by the profound impact of their experience, they now express gratitude by contributing as Memory Makers, ensuring that more families can also enjoy the rejuvenating experience of respite.

Our Mission
For Pete’s Sake Cancer Respite Foundation enables cancer patients and their loved ones to strengthen, deepen and unify their relationships by creating unforgettable and lasting Respite Experiences. Working with oncology professionals at over 100 hospitals and cancer centers, FPS provides transformative respite experiences to cancer patients (ages 21-55), their caregivers and their children and offers our families emotional support that assists them as their journey with cancer continues. Our respite program helps families recognize it is love, not cancer, that defines them.
