With it comes sunny days, blooming flowers — and most adorably — dozens of kittens entering Helen Woodward Animal Center. Sunkist came to Helen Woodward Animal Center from California’s High Desert region in the last days of her pregnancy. “We expected her to give birth soon,” Pet Acquisition Manager LaBeth Thompson said. “We just didn’t expect it to be that night!” Sunkist gave birth to four kittens at her foster home. Cola, Fanta, Pibb, and Sprite (affectionately referred to as her “sodas” by staff) came into the world on Leap Day 2024.
Sunkist’s maternity may have put her at risk elsewhere. Pregnant animals are often in jeopardy of euthanasia in other parts of the country, due to the extra resources and care they require. However, thanks to your generous support, Sunkist and her sodas are able to receive all the time, love, and care they need during this fragile time in their lives. You can support more feline families like Sunkist and her sodas, as well as bottle babies without mamas, by giving to the Center’s Baby Shower campaign.
